Two highly anticipated K-dramas (Korean dramas) are coming to Netflix soon for Fall 2019! These Korean Dramas should conclude Netflix’s orders for Fall 2019. One is an action-packed historical drama (My Country) and the other is the second season of a highly-rated political thriller (Chief of Staff 2).

Both Korean dramas are distributed through JTBC in Korea and Netflix everywhere else.

My Country: The New Age is about two friends who go head-to-head with each other as they take on their dreams of a new world. There’s going to be a lot of swift fighting scenes, handsome leads, a beautiful love triangle and an introduction to the legend of Yi Bang Won, the third king of the Joseon dynasty.

Seo Hwi, played by Yang Se-jong is a son of a famous commander who stops at nothing to achieve his own sense of justice. Nam Seon-ho, played by Woo Do-Hwan is a friend of Seo Hwi who grew up poor but wants to achieve honor in the military.

Han Hui-jae, (potential love triangle interest?), played by Seolhyun is a skilled martial artist. That’s all we know about her.

Lastly, Jang Hyuk!!! plays Yi Bang-won during the tumultuous period between the late Goryeo dynasty and the early Joseon dynasty. It does not seem like Jang Hyuk will be playing the main lead, although he should be getting ample screen time due to his role. If you really want Jang Hyuk as the lead in a historical drama, check out Chuno, The Slave Hunters.

Korean elections are coming up next year so political dramas are the appetizers before the main entrée. Chief of Staff season 1 premiered a few months and was a big hit for its unique storyline that focused more on the assistants and aides of lawmakers and the work they do behind the scenes rather than focusing only on the top dogs.

Lee Jung-jae plays Jang Tae-joon, a Chief of Staff who acts almost as a “fixer” to make sure nothing is in the way for his boss, the assemblyman. Shin Min-a plays Kang Seon-yeong, an ex-reporter turned lawmaker who is also secretly dating Tae-joon.

This superb fast-paced political drama is an eyeopener to what really goes on behind the scenes in politics.
