Woman of 9.9 Billion is KBS2’s latest Wed/Thurs drama that aired on December 4th. One reason it’s at the top is that the time slot its competing in is relatively unambitious. The only drama competition is MBC’s Love With Flaws which is doing a couple % ratings lower. Currently, the drama winner for ratings in all time slots goes to SBS’s VIP, which just recently hit 13.5% on December 3rd. Another reason is the cast. This cast is putting on a display of brilliant acting and I have to mention it also features one of the best K-drama villains.
For those who are curious what Woman of 9.9 Billion is about: A really broken woman whose life is not only a mess but also suffers from an abusive husband steals 10 million $$$ from what she knows to be illegal money. She just so happens to commit another guilty act while stealing the money so now the original owners of the money and a detective are both after her.
Would I recommend it? So far, yes. Only two episodes have come out so far. It does a good job keeping me interested. I like the mellow, crime mystery genre so this fits well. The actress recently starred in Parasite, which was a great film that won the 2019 Cannes Film Festival’s top Palme d’Or award.
Runtime: Wednesday and Thursday
Cast: Cho Yeo-jeong, Kim Kang-woo, Jung Woong-in, Oh Na-ra, Lee Ji-hoon
Where to watch: Viki
However, tvN’s dramas are much more interesting to me at the moment though, so if I were to rank all dramas currently airing I would rank Psychopath Diary ahead of 9.9 Billion Won Woman . I’m also very excited about tvN’s Crash Landing On You (Starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin) which premiers on December 14th.
What I like about the drama so far
This show really gets my rage up so it keeps it really interesting for me, haha. The abusive husband, Hong In-Pyo is played by Jung Woong-In. His acting is always on par. The first time I watched Jung Woong-In was back when he was playing the villain in the drama I Can Hear Your Voice (I write about that drama here). Jung Woong-In is always so good at playing the bad and sneaky guy and really makes my rage boil.
The wife, believe it or not, also makes me mad. I’m not sure whether to root for her or not. Like I want her to get caught quickly and own up for her mistakes but at the same time I want to know what she will do with the money.
Also, based on the promotion poster, the main actress looks really badass. And she looks like she’s working together with the main lead detective. This is really interesting because not only so far has the main actress been meek and depressive, she also has a big secret to not be associated with the detective. So why are those two working together?? Until next week…Very interesting.
